mexico, colorado and california meet down to the chijuajua area of new mexico. there was one excavation along the way i remember out in the desert nears winslow, arizona. the desert out there is just a still life with a few landmarks on the horizon and this empty hole, the little colorado river desert, the painted desert, and we were working on a 500-room pueblo dating back to about 1400 ad. i just remember the wind just hailing down on us for days and you would be working down with trowels inside of a trench and if you stop for too long, the sand would start to fill up your hole again because it was blowing so much and everybody was turned away from the wind. so it looked like some kind of religious thing was going on here, all these people bowed to the ground for days and days tinkering with some unimaginable smallness in front of them while the wind just pushed harder and harder, sand blasting across you, filling up all the rooms that you just emptied out as if the desert is rolling back over itself. because even where trails are left, trails disappear out th

new mexico, hawaii, wyoming, conn., and massachusetts makes up the top 10. good morning. caller: thanks for taking my call. there are some of points that i believe should be made. it is something that was in a speech on the senate floor about budgeting. when either the harry reid or john boehner plan talks about making cuts in spending, they are not making cuts. they are spending less money than they planned on spending next year or down the road five or 10 years. it is an increase in spending. it is not as large as originally planned. that is the first thing the american people need to know. plan has real spending cuts, which is what we need. democrats are still blaming republicans and all of this nonsense. the fact of the matter remains that we did not get into this debt problem, because our government taxes too little. it is not because our government lets corporations have a free rein. that mentality is outdated. the reason we are in this problem today is because our government spends too much money. there is no oversight in these programs that mostly democrats and re

the new governor of new mexico, susanna martinez is somebody who they're taking a close look at, too. >> i know there's also been some talk out there about bob mcdonald, as well. virginia's governor who has not made it a secret that he is pretty interested in the idea. >> that's right. virginia is another state that's going to be hotly contested. so, they have to look at the geography and you have to look at the democrats and rubio rides to the top and the other thing that you have to look at is the ideological constituency that a vp candidate might attract and might be able to help presidential candidate sort of offset a weakness with that constituency. with rubio, again, he's a tea party favorite. if mitt romney is the nominee, in particular, he's not strong with the tea party. he will want a vp candidate that is able to offset that deficiency and rubio will do that and susanna martinez in new mexico, as brian sandoval, the governor of nevada, who also is hispanic and is from a hotly contested state and has appeal with tea partiers. so, a lot of possibilities out there. the reason w
